Pass By Bar opened its doors in 1999, becoming the first hostelry in Beijing catering to the budget traveller. Established by a committed backpacker turned entrepreneur, this backpacker theme remains at the core of the bustling bar to this day. Hidden away in the historic hutong of Nanluoguxiang in Dongcheng District, Pass By Bar enjoys the benefits of occupying an ancient courtyard-style home which provides cover from the elements (cooling in the summer and warming in the winter) to enjoy the delicious food and drink. In particular Pass By Bar is famed for its Italian cuisine, especially its trademark Mutton Pizza. The bar also has a wide-range of coffees and an enviable collection of books which you're welcome to browse and read to help while away a few pleasant hours. Finally, the folks behind Pass By Bar are also renowned for their design skills (from films to postcards) and over the years have designed and produced their own range of T-shirts which capture the imagination and have become famous in backpacker circles and beyond!
