Description

Coffee time, Lunch time, Dinner time,
Make and show your own graffiti in Cave Cave Café!

Cave Café is located in the heart of the sophisticated 798 Art Zone and embodies many of the characteristics of the pre-eminent setting, full of contrasts and nuances from red brick to coffee, reinforced concrete to wine, old communist slogans to modern art – all harmoniously blended to deliver an experience to stimulate the senses, be they sight, smell, taste or touch.

What was once a building full of communist passion, a typical example of Bauhaus construction and a workshop for firing pottery, has now been transformed into a venue for baking pizzas and cooking juicy steaks, filled throughout by the delicious aroma of fresh coffee.

Moreover in keeping with the theme of contrast even the venue itself is divided into two distinctive spaces.

The first space was originally used for firing and drying ceramics by a factory based in 798 and features a lofty ceiling thanks to an additional 1m space that was required for the purposes of insulation. Without any windows however a lack of natural light posed a serious issue for the designers who had to use all of their creativity to come up with a solution.

Unable to remove any of the walls to solve the problem, instead they picked holes in the existing structure to allow the light to seep into every nook and cranny and the unusually high ceiling allowed for the installation of an "attic" which affords customers the opportunity to escape into a secluded "hideaway".

Meanwhile the remnants taken from the original walls were re-attached and scrap metal from the factory re-used to create lampshades – all instrumental in creating the ambiance and feeling from which the venue gained the name of the "Cave Café".

The second area exudes a luxurious feeling of space and comfort, with a ceiling height of up to nine meters!

Whether it’s for artistic contemplation or just a bit of daydreaming, artists and non-artists alike can enjoy a bit of impromptu sketching over a coffee and the owner is equally happy to hang them proudly on the wall. There is no artistic snobbery to the venue which truly believes that "there’s an artist in everyone."

As a venue which has embraced the spirit of modern art, Cave Café often plays host to art exhibitions and networking gatherings, plus its artistic nature and character also sets it aside as the ideal location for events from corporate meetings & dinner parties to private functions.

So the next time you’re in the mood for a coffee or a bite to eat why not sample the unique feeling of space and modern art offered by Cave Café. You never know, you might just be inspired!
